Recently, the *Sichuan Petroleum Daily* published a special report titled "Saying Goodbye to High Risk: Robots Perform 'Big Cleaning' in Gas Tanks," detailing the complete on-site practice of Xi'an Alpha Industrial Robot's Model 300 sludge-removing robot in cleaning the water tanks of the Long 004-6 well in the Jiulongshan Gas Field of the Guangyuan Gas Production Area of the Southwest Oil and Gas Field, Sichuan Northwest Gas Mine. Tank cleaning in the oil and gas industry is a typical high-risk, confined-space operation. The tanks accumulate large amounts of oily sludge over time, along with high-sulfur media, and toxic, flammable, and explosive gases such as hydrogen sulfide and methane can easily accumulate. The tank interior is a closed, dark space with complex operating conditions. In traditional operations, workers must wear protective gear to enter the tanks for cleaning, constantly facing multiple safety threats such as poisoning, asphyxiation, deflagration, and oxygen deficiency. This results in significant safety management pressure, cumbersome procedures, and long construction periods, representing a long-standing safety pain point in oil and gas production and maintenance.
We thank the Guangyuan Gas Production Operation Area of the Northwest Sichuan Gas Field in the Southwest Oil and Gas Field for their trust and recognition of the Alpha sludge removal robot's performance and on-site capabilities. Faced with multiple challenging and high-risk conditions in this project's gas field water tanks, including high sulfur content, confined spaces, accumulation of toxic and harmful gases, and complex composition of sludge, the Alpha 300 sludge removal robot fully leveraged its core advantages of explosion-proof safety, compact design, and remote ground control. Personnel remained stationed in a safe area outside the tank throughout the process, eliminating the need for personnel to enter. The robot was deployed into the tank through the manhole and moved flexibly along its anti-slip tracked chassis, completing the entire process of sediment mixing and dispersing, and the closed-loop suction and transfer of oily sludge. This successfully and efficiently cleaned the sediment and oily sludge from the tank. The entire operation achieved closed-loop sludge transport without spillage, avoiding direct exposure to high-risk environments for personnel and reducing on-site environmental pollution. This truly facilitates the transformation of confined space operations in gas fields towards mechanization and unmanned operation, opening up a new safe operating mode for the maintenance of oil and gas station storage tanks.

Xi'an Alpha Industrial Robotics has long been deeply involved in the field of oil and gas environmental dredging, focusing on the pain points of high-risk operations in confined spaces. For various complex and high-risk working conditions such as gas field water tanks, crude oil storage tanks, sludge pools, and closed pipelines, they have independently developed and launched a full series of unmanned dredging equipment, including the 300, 500, and 600 models. Different models are adapted to different operating scenarios such as small storage tanks, large storage tanks, and large sludge pools, meeting the dredging needs of multiple industries including petroleum, chemical, and municipal environmental protection.
In the future, we will continue to be deeply rooted in the front lines of oil and gas operations, continuously iterating and optimizing equipment performance based on feedback from various projects. We will further improve the explosion-proof safety level of our equipment, the efficiency of sludge suction and treatment, and its adaptability to complex and confined tank environments, refining complete operational solutions that are more tailored to actual on-site conditions. We will insist on replacing personnel with intelligent equipment in confined spaces, mitigating personal safety risks such as poisoning, deflagration, and suffocation at the source. We will continuously provide stable and reliable domestically produced dredging solutions to help the oil and gas industry achieve safe, green, and efficient production, and assist more high-risk confined space operations in achieving the goal of "less manned, unmanned" safe operations.
